Student Nurse Externship Program
As a Nurse Extern you will experience innovative thinking, practice models and unique resources firsthand and establish a foundation for clinical excellence. You will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a unit within one of the Nursing Divisions (Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Women’s and Children’s).
The 10-week program will start on Tuesday, May 29 and officially end on Saturday, August 4.
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- Able to demonstrate the successful completion of at least 2 clinical rotations
- GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale as evidenced in an official transcript
Students interested in applying to the program must:
- Complete a Human Resources Employment application
- Enclose one (1) faculty letter of recommendation
- Provide an official transcript or proof that an official transcript has been requested (you may attach an unofficial transcript if request for official transcript is included)

Nursing Assistant
Requirements: C.N.A. - or - Completion of 2 Nursing Clinical Rotations.
Must attend mandatory 2 day training sessions during the week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nursing Unit Secretary
Requirements: High School diploma minimum education requirements
together with 1 year work experience. Must attend mandatory 2 day training sessions
during the week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
**Please note these opportunities are not seasonal; candidates will need to be available
to meet the scheduling requirements for the position after the summer has concluded.
Both positions are every other weekend: Saturday & Sunday one weekend with the
next weekend off, AND obligations to work every other Holiday.

Applicants who are traveling to the Human Resources
Department should note that our offices are located across the street from the main
hospital in the Zullo Building. Take Easton Avenue to Richardson Street. The Zullo
Building is located at the corner of Wirt Street and Richardson Street. The Human
Resources Department is located on the first floor.
Applications and resumes can take two to three weeks
to be processed. If there is an interest, someone will contact you either by phone
or by mail. We hold applications for three months. There is no need to reapply within
three months of your first application. Saint Peter's University Hospital is an
