Saint Peter’s University Hospital has entrusted EmCare with the administration and delivery of expert adult and pediatric emergency medicine services since 2009. EmCare, a leading provider of physician services for emergency departments, inpatient physician services, inpatient radiology management programs and anesthesiology services, was founded in 1972 and is a part of Emergency Medical Services Corporation, the leading provider of emergency medical services in the United States.
Saint Peter’s chose EmCare because it understands emergency medicine. Its physicians have the knowledge and experience to meet the challenges of a busy, full-service emergency department like Saint Peter’s.
Saint Peter’s Emergency Facilities and Services
Saint Peter’s Emergency Department has one of the largest facilities in central New Jersey. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a highly trained team of emergency medicine physicians who are board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine and other emergency professionals.
Recognizing that time is essential in an emergency, the entire staff at Saint Peter’s Emergency Department is dedicated to treating patients as quickly as possible. For example, Saint Peter’s coordinates care between emergency medicine physicians, neurologists and radiologists, and offers emergency angioplasty, a life-saving procedure that may help heart attack patients experience less heart muscle damage, faster recovery time and improved quality of life. Saint Peter’s is also a designated primary stroke center, which includes a team of specialists available around-the-clock to administer time‑to‑treatment protocols from the time a patient enters Saint Peter’s Emergency Department.
Saint Peter’s offers specialized treatment areas that include:
• A fast-track room where adults with minor injuries are treated and released
• A fully equipped trauma room
• Isolation rooms for patients with infectious diseases
• A hazardous materials decontamination room
• Private rooms for OB/GYN
• Private rooms for casting broken bones
• A large acute care area for more serious injuries and illnesses
• An observation area with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment
Even with this state-of-the-art emergency department, Saint Peter’s is embarking on a renovation of its emergency facilities to make it even more up-to-the-minute in the delivery of urgent care.
