Both of Saint Peter’s Emergency Departments are easily accessed via the same entrance off Easton Avenue on Park Boulevard in New Brunswick, NJ. As you near the hospital, well-marked signs guide patients and families directly to the emergency department door. Pull right up. Free valet parking is available at the Emergency Department entrance on Park Boulevard, eliminating the need to spend precious time looking for a parking space.

Saint Peter’s Pediatric Emergency Department
Our newly redesigned and expanded Dorothy B. Hersh Pediatric Emergency Department at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital opened in April 2013. One of the largest pediatric emergency departments in New Jersey, it has 14 beds plus a minor care treatment area. The Dorothy B. Hersh Pediatric Emergency Department is a 5,200-square-foot state-of-the-art facility that serves the hospital's youngest patients from newborns up to age 18.

Saint Peter’s Adult Emergency Department
Saint Peter’s Emergency Department has one of the largest facilities in central New Jersey. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a highly trained team of emergency medicine physicians who are board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine and other emergency professionals.
Recognizing that time is essential in an emergency, the entire staff at Saint Peter’s Emergency Department is dedicated to treating patients as quickly as possible. Saint Peter’s coordinates care between emergency medicine physicians, neurologists and radiologists, and offers emergency angioplasty, a life-saving procedure that may help heart attack patients experience less heart muscle damage, faster recovery time and improved quality of life. Saint Peter’s is also a designated primary stroke center, staffed with a team of specialists available around-the-clock to administer time-to-treatment protocols from the time a patient enters Saint Peter’s Emergency Department.
Saint Peter’s offers specialized treatment areas that include:
- A fast-track room where adults with minor injuries are treated and released
- A fully equipped trauma room
- Isolation rooms for patients with infectious diseases
