NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Saint Peter’s University Hospital has announced its DAISY Award winners for outstanding nursing care during the period of January through June of this year. They are: January - Nila Castillo, RN, CCRN, PACU; February - Analyn Tesorio, RN, CCRN, PICU; March - Margie Lim, RN, CCRN, BSN, NICU; April - Sherry Nigro, CCRN, BSN, ICU; May - Linda Jarosicwicz, Clearbrook, and June - Lynn Watson, RNC, 3G Surgical.
The DAISY Award is a partnership among more than 890 health care organizations nationwide to provide ongoing recognition of the clinical skill and especially the compassion nurses demonstrate at the bedside all year long. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The foundation was formed in November 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, or ITP.
