The annual fair, co-sponsored by Saint Peter’s University Hospital and New Brunswick Recreation, offers a day of fun along with health information for the entire family.
“Just for the Health of It” features games, rides, a fun bus and an obstacle course for children, baseball, soccer and tennis tournaments, a DJ, and karaoke on the main stage.
The Saint Peter’s University Hospital Community Mobile Health Unit will also be on hand to provide free health screenings and health information, and the Rutgers University School of Pharmacy will offer lessons on medication safety.
Many experts have called Diggs the greatest distance runner in American history. She was inducted into the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2009. Diggs’ prolific career spanned nearly three decades as a four-time Olympian in the 800 meters in 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000, prompting The Star-Ledger newspaper to name her “New Jersey’s Woman of Athlete of the Century.’’ She was also a 15-time All-American, 9-time NCAA champion and 11-time Southeastern Conference champion in collegiate track and field. She is a graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood.
Rutgers University’s Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and Johnson & Johnson, both New Brunswick, are supporting sponsors of “Just for the Health of It.”
