BRUNSWICK, N.J. (photo CAPTION) – New Brunswick Health Sciences High
School graduates Alisha Cook, a nursing student at Seton Hall University,
second from left, and Stephanie Bravo, a nursing student at the College of New
Jersey, were congratulated recently at Saint Peter’s University Hospital for their
completion of a one-week summer nursing internship at the hospital. The program was conducted in partnership with
the New Brunswick Education Foundation. The foundation aided each student with
a $1,000 scholarship funded by the Ratliff Family, a foundation donor, as the Elma R.
Ratliff Memorial Nursing Career Scholarship. While at Saint Peter’s the students attended a hospital orientation
session, shadowed a nurse recruiter, learned interviewing skills, attended a
nursing self-governance day, and attended a clinical shadowing experience on
the oncology unit. Also
shown are, from left, sisters Belinda Ratliff, Sandra Lassiter and Gwen
Ratliff, whose family funded the scholarship. Gwen is also a New Brunswick
Education Foundation board member.
