Our diabetes nutritionists help patients create meal plans specifically for their needs. And while every plan meets each person’s health requirements, there is a common goal–achieving blood sugar control. The plans limit the amount of carbohydrates eaten at mealtime, because spacing carbohydrates is best for blood sugar control. The amount of carbohydrates that a patient can eat varies between 30 and 60 grams per meal. Our diabetes nutritionists make a determination after consulting with and evaluating each patient.

Preventing heart disease and controlling present health is vital in diabetes management. Patients are given plans designed to lower total dietary fat and guidance as to how to best choose monounsaturated fats and limit saturated fats while including lean protein with all meals. Our philosophy is that a diabetic meal plan is healthy for the entire family.
