When children are scheduled for a test or procedure that is expected to be unpleasant, painful or requires them to keep still for some time, doctors at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital may recommend that they be sedated. Sedating a child ensures comfort and that the test is performed as safely and successfully as possible.
Sedation is often recommended when children require endoscopies, MRIs, X-ray studies, nuclear medicine studies, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, hearing tests or emergency procedures.
For more information, please call (732) 745-6662 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
