Radiology

Comprehensive radiology services at Saint Peter’s University Hospital are provided by a group of board-certified radiologists from University Radiology whose areas of expertise include body imaging, pediatric radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, neuroradiology, nuclear radiology, thoracic radiology, interventional radiology, and women’s imaging.

Saint Peter’s University Hospital is the only hospital in New Jersey to offer the EOS® Imaging System, a low-dose  full-body orthopedic medical imaging system for children and adults. Based on X-ray technology, it captures two full-body, weight-bearing images simultaneously. Using these two full-body images, a 3D model of the skeletal system is created to further evaluate bone-related degeneration and deformities, such as scoliosis. The standing images of the whole body are best for viewing the spine and the body’s balance while the body is in a normal, weight-bearing position.

The Radiology Department delivers the highest level of around-the-clock radiology services including comprehensive diagnostic radiology, routine X-ray examinations, ultrasounds, computerized tomography (CT) scanning, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), carotid imaging, mammography including digital mammography, interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine. Patients have access to advanced services such as MRI-guided breast biopsies for the detection of breast cancer and radio-embolization treatment for inoperable liver cancer.

The University Radiology team has extensive experience in interventional oncology and provides full spectrum of interventional radiology services. In addition to screening mammography, breast MRI, ultrasound and other routine procedures, MRI-guided breast biopsies are available.

Pediatric Radiology

All diagnostic imaging interpretations at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s are provided by radiologists who are highly experienced in pediatric radiology. Radiologists who are fellowship-trained in pediatric radiology will provide on-site services during regular business hours.

The one, clear, image of the full spine produced by EOS system is best for evaluating conditions such scoliosis, especially in children.

Women’s Imaging

In addition to screening mammography, breast MRI, ultrasound and other routine procedures, MRI-guided breast biopsies are available.
