Volunteer Services
Saint Peter's University Hospital has more than 1,000 volunteers, ranging from high
school students to retirees, who donate thousands of hours each year to help our
staff care for our patients and visitors. Our volunteers support nursing and other
patient-care departments, deliver mail and newspapers, staff our reception desks,
and assist in our coffee and gift shops.
Some of the special programs open to our volunteers are:
- Scholarship Program – High school seniors who have given 200 hours
of service are eligible to apply for cash scholarships to aid in their college education.
- Silver Spoons – Adult volunteers are specially trained to feed
patients who cannot feed themselves.
All volunteers are required to have two current tuberculosis (TB) tests; attend
hospital orientation; and document immunity to varicella, roseola and rubella.
