Ambulatory Care at Saint Peter’s University Hospital ranges from a recently opened urgent care center to a breast center equipped with the latest diagnostic technology.

Breast Center
The staff of the Saint Peter’s Breast Center - the first breast care specialty center in the state to be accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers – provides comprehensive care for patients with breast disease, including breast cancer. The members of our breast care team pool their expertise, covering multiple medical specialties, to design a customized treatment program for each patient. Utilizing the most advanced oncology treatment options available today, offered are a full range of state-of-the-art services, including: screening and diagnostic testing, chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and post-treatment care.
Emergency Department
Saint Peter’s Emergency Department provides a broad spectrum of care, including a minor care unit to handle injuries and complaints as quickly as possible. This year the hospital opened the Saint Peter’s Urgent Care Center in Skillman. Doctors trained in emergency medicine treat lacerations, minor sports and orthopedic injuries, colds, coughs, fever, asthma, back pain and sore throats. Lab and x-ray technicians work on the premises to perform diagnostic tests such as strep and flu cultures, blood sugar samples and x-rays.
Imaging Services
A variety of comprehensive breast and osteoporosis studies are performed at The Women’s Imaging Center at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. Located in the Center for Ambulatory Resources (CARES), the facility is accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence – not just for mammography, but also for stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. A team of experts offers screening and diagnostic mammography, palpation, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), interventional and diagnostic ultrasounds, biopsies and fine-needle aspirations for the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. Mammograms are available without a previously scheduled appointments.
Center for Ambulatory Resources
Located across from The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, the center, known as CARES, is home to the Women’s Imaging Center, the CARES Surgicenter, the Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Services, and an outpatient cardiac cathereterization lab.
Family Health Center in New Brunswick
Saint Peter’s physicians and healthcare providers also provide adult primary care services at the Saint Peter’s Family Health Center on How Lane in New Brunswick. In addition to general internal medicine and clinics, the following subspecialties are available: endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, nephrology and rheumatology. The center is also home to Women’s Ambulatory Services clinic.
Comprehensive Care Group
Our primary care physicians at the Comprehensive Care Group in Monroe, Piscataway and New Brunswick provide general services for adults 18 years and older, including internal medicine, geriatrics, prevention and wellness, and disease and medication management. We provide access to specialists in such areas as diabetes care, cardiac care, gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology, infectious disease, travel medicine and wound care.
