In support of the Mission and Vision of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System to promote quality care and services responsive to the needs of patients, families, visitors, staff and the community; the leadership of the organization endorses the following patient safety goals:
- To provide leadership, education and resources to manage an integrated and interdisciplinary patient safety program.
- To assure ongoing compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals as published annually by The Joint Commission (TJC).
- To provide a systematic mechanism for the reporting, trending, and analysis of incidents.
- To establish and implement proactive risk reduction strategies utilizing process improvement tools and technology, such as Proactive Risk Assessment.
- To provide support systems for staff involved in a sentinel event.
- To define and implement a system for reporting and managing sentinel and serious adverse events, both internally and externally.
- To comply with the reporting requirements as outlined in the New Jersey Patient Safety Act and The Joint Commission.
- To provide a systematic and comprehensive mechanism for receiving, disseminating, and acting on safety alerts and product recalls.
- To address and integrate safety priorities when (re)designing processes and systems.
