Surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy or radiation might be recommended alone or in combination.

At The National Gianna Center for Women’s Health and Fertility™ our specialists provide general gynecological care, prenatal care, natural family planning education, and infertility services – all with a deep commitment to honoring a woman’s dignity and the sanctity of human life.

Fertility Awareness

The Fertility Awareness Program at Saint Peter’s University Hospital began as an initiative to provide information and support to adolescents experiencing teen pregnancy and as a source of instruction in natural family planning for adults. The need to reach out to pre-teens and teens in the schools in order to provide instruction concerning the physical, emotional and social changes during adolescence and the benefits of choosing abstinence resulted in the development of Project Respect Ed, which is now presented to over 2,000 students each year in twelve central New Jersey public and private schools.

High Risk Obstetrics

Saint Peter's is a state-designated Regional Perinatal Center with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We are licensed and equipped to manage the most complicated, high-risk pregnancies and the most medically fragile newborns. Our maternal fetal medicine program provides advanced diagnostic testing and high-risk, pre- and postnatal care. Our team includes maternal fetal medicine specialists (high-risk perinatal physicians), geneticists, a placental pathologist, perinatal nurses, ultrasonographers, neonatologists, diabetes care and control specialists, and other high-risk support specialists.

Saint Peter’s Women’s Imaging Center, located in the Center for Ambulatory Resources (next to the Women and Children’s Pavilion), is accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence—not just for mammography, but also for stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Saint Peter’s offers screening and diagnostic mammography, palpation, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), interventional and diagnostic ultrasounds, MRI-guided breast biopsies and fine-needle aspirations for the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. All these services are performed and/or reviewed by a dedicated team of radiologists and technologists (certified in mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), who are highly experienced in women’s imaging.

Osteoporosis studies are also performed at The Women’s Imaging Center at Saint Peter’s.

Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. To accommodate patients who are not available during the week, we offer appointments for screening mammograms every other Saturday. Our modern facility and newly redesigned registration area ensure the comfort and ease of care of our patients.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Saint Peter's delivers more babies than any other facility in central New Jersey, making us the premier hospital in our area for maternity services. Many community obstetricians choose to affiliate with Saint Peter's because of our specialized obstetrics and gynecology programs and experienced staff.
