To give birth in the Mary V. O'Shea Birth Center, you must complete the two-session class by week 36 of your pregnancy.  These are Orientation to the Birth Center and Early Discharge from the Birth Center.

This two-session class is offered one day every month from 9:00am - 11:00AM and 11:00am-1:00PM.

Partner attendance is strongly encouraged.

The fee is $40.00.

Please register as soon as possible for this class.

In the morning session of Orientation to the Birth Center, we will review the philosophy of the midwifery model of care, birth center criteria and birth center exclusion criteria.  We will also discuss the support system, available comfort measures, birthing tools, your birth plan, and additional classes.

During the afternoon session of Early Discharge from the Birth Center, we will tour the birth center and review the immediate post-partum period for both mom and baby, the importance of choosing a pediatrician, early discharge, and follow-up care.
