Parents should register for this class by the 6th month of prenancy and should begin, the class,  8 - 10 weeks prior to the expected delivery date.

This course is a 5-part series for the mom-to-be and her birth companion. This class is designed for couples focusing on the natural birth process with minimal interventions as possible. Hypnosis is the naturally induced state of relaxed concentration in which suggestions are made to the subconscious mind.  The subconscious mind influences the choices we make, what we think and how we feel. Through daily practice, you can achieve a profound state of deep relaxation still being fully in control and aware of the birth process and being able to determine the extent to which you feel the uterine contractions.  Birth is experienced in a relaxed and calm atmosphere, free of  fear and tension.  Your body's natural pain relievers, endorphins, replace the stress hormones that create pain.  You are fully awake and involved during the baby'e birth.

This course fulfills the Childbirth Class requirement for first time families wishing to give birth in the Mary V. O'Shea Birth Center.

The class is taught by a Registered Nurse, who is a
Certified HypnoBirth Practitioner.

$250.00/Couple

The cost of the Hypnobirthing classes are slightly higher than the Prepared Childbirth classes because of the material and the lenghth of the class.
