Saint Peter's delivers more babies than any other facility in central New Jersey, making us the premier hospital in our area for maternity services. Many community obstetricians choose to affiliate with Saint Peter's because of our specialized programs and experienced staff. Numerous patients also choose Saint Peter's for those very reasons. We provide an extra measure of comfort and security for expectant parents because of our renowned Regional Perinatal Center with an experienced maternal-fetal medicine team and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
There are few joys greater than the birth of a child. Saint Peter’s has been blessed over the years to have delivered more babies since opening our doors than any other hospital in the area. We are very proud of the fact that so many choose Saint Peter’s for this memorable event. Our experienced doctors and nurses deliver and care for about 6,000 babies in a year, and each delivery is as special as the one before.
A designated admission area for expectant mothers is right outside the delivery rooms in the Women and Children’s Pavilion, so there is no delay. Even if a woman knows beforehand she’ll be having a Caesarean—or C-section— she can still be admitted in the Women and Children’s Pavilion labor and delivery area, rather than the hospital’s main admitting office.
Needless to say, Saint Peter’s has the resources to support every delivery—no matter how simple or complex—and features private labor and delivery suites with adequate space for daddy or coach to feel welcome during this special time. While nurses keep a close eye on mom during labor, our caregivers keep a close eye on the progress of the baby’s arrival and well-being with fetal monitoring equipment.
Please view our interactive maternity tour to see our rooms, including our Private LDRs and the nursery, and get an idea of what your time at Saint Peter’s will be like. There are also short videos below which you may view for information about our special care and services.
Our Gianna Centers for Women's Health and Fertility provides general gynecological care, prenatal care, natural family planning education, and fertility services. We are pleased to be the first in the community to feature two new unique services that provide a natural, restorative, scientifically based approach to monitoring your health and managing your fertility. Our physician offices are located at 222 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ, and at 15 E. 40th Street, Suite 101, New York, NY.
The Parenting Education Department at The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's offers a variety of classes that prepare expectant parents and adoptive parents-to-be for the arrival of their babies. Sessions include classes on baby care and breastfeeding, infant massage, and a sibling class to prepare brothers and sisters for the new addition to the family.
