Saint Peter’s University Hospital is proud to offer the only ASHP accredited PGY2 Pediatric Residency Program in the state of New Jersey. As a state-designated acute care children’s hospital, the 108 bed (54- bed NICU, 40-bed general pediatrics unit and 14-bed PICU) Children’s Hospital offers a full-range of pediatric specialized healthcare services for newborns and children. The hospital operates one of the largest, most advanced neonatal intensive care units in the country. Our state-designated Regional Perinatal Center is renowned throughout New Jersey for the exceptional level of high-risk maternity and neonatal care provided. Each year we care for over 15,000 women from the tri-state region and deliver more than 5,000 babies. The Dorothy B. Hersh Pediatric Emergency Department is one of the largest pediatric emergency departments in New Jersey and cares for over 22,000 infants, children and young adults annually.

The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Program at Saint Peter’s University Hospital is designed to provide a broad exposure to patient care in a goal-oriented, interactive teaching environment. Experience and knowledge are developed through learning experiences with highly skilled pharmacy and non-pharmacy preceptors dedicated to patient care and education. Flexibility allows residents to tailor learning experiences to meet their individual interests and career goals. Residents will complete a major project aimed at improving pharmaceutical care within the institution as well as participate in medication use evaluations and multidisciplinary committees. Pediatric pharmacy residents at Saint Peter’s gain teaching experience by serving as co-preceptors for pharmacy students and PGY1 pharmacy residents; and providing continuing education for pharmacists and members of the health care team. Residents interested in strengthening their skills in presenting lectures and precepting students may participate in didactic lectures and a teaching certificate program at Rutgers University, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. Upon completion of this residency program, residents will possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and faculty positions as well as board certification as a Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist.
