Pediatric Urology

Pediatric urology is a surgical subspecialty of medicine dealing with the disorders of children's genitourinary systems (the system of the reproductive organs and the urinary system). Pediatric urologists affiliated with The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital provide care for both boys and girls ranging from birth to early adulthood.
 
Some of the conditions diagnosed and treated by pediatric urologists are:

  1. Bladder control problems such as bedwetting and daytime urinary incontinence
  2. Undescended testes (cryptorchidism)
  3. Bladder and kidney stones (Urolithiasis)
  4. Chordee and other minor malformations of the penis
  5. Urinary obstruction and vesicoureteral reflux
  6. Neurogenic bladder (e.g., associated with spina bifida)
  7. Tumors and cancers of the kidneys
  8. Repair of genitourinary trauma
  9. Genitourinary malformations and birth defects
  10. Prune belly syndrome
  11. Cloacal exstrophy, bladder exstrophy, and epispadias
  12. Ambiguous genitalia and intersex conditions.
