2nd Annual CBZ’s Ride Fundraiser in Loving Memory of Christopher, Brayden and Zachary Raises $8,000 for the NICU at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital
CBZ’s Ride 2nd Annual Fundraiser was held on August 18, 2022 at McDonagh’s Pub & Restaurant in Keyport. The event consisted of a buffet, live music, tricky tray and 50/50 raffle raising $8,000 in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. Over the last two years, CBZ’s Ride has raised over $15,500 in support of Saint Peter’s NICU.

Members of the NICU at Saint Peter’s attended the event and presented CBZ’s Ride with their own donation of $1,000. Dolly Allen, MSN, RN-CCRN, manager, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, shared why the team came together to support this event. “Our team knows the impact a loss has on a family and the fact that the Del Grosso Family is willing to give back after losing their babies demonstrates their extraordinary strength. Their family holds such a special place in our hearts, and we want to support them in any way we can.”

CBZ’s Ride is an organization (pending nonprofit) formed by Kellie and Bryan Del Grosso in loving memory of their sons, Christopher, Brayden and Zachary. The triplets were born on August 30, 2022 at 25 weeks, 4 days. Christopher and Brayden passed shortly after their births, and on September 26, after 27 days in the NICU, Zachary passed away. Kellie and Bryan named the organization CBZ’s Ride to symbolize the roller coaster ride their three boys went on. It also pays tribute to the daily emotional and physical roller coaster NICU parents face.

The mission of CBZ’s Ride is to support NICUs by raising and providing funds for clinical equipment as well as items and programs benefiting NICU families. Kellie and Bryan are dedicated to ensuring that newborns get the best care possible, just as Christopher, Brayden and Zachary did. Kellie and Bryan shared, “Every single person who took care of Christopher, Brayden and Zachary treated them as if they were their own. We will never be able to repay the NICU team for everything that was done to save our boys and everything that they have done to support us since the day we met them and continue to do today. Because of their hardwork, love and dedication, combined with the determination of our boys to fight, we were given many extra minutes, hours and days with our boys. We have been so lucky to develop lifelong relationships and hope that we will be able to volunteer and give-back to our NICU family for the rest of our lives.”
