Vestibular Therapy

The vestibular system is made up of vision, body awareness, and head position. Vestibular balance disorders can affect your balance, making you feel lightheaded, dizzy or disoriented with blurry vision.

Signs and symptoms that may indicate the need for vestibular physical therapy:

  • Dizziness
  • Moments of balance loss
  • Vertigo without changing position
  • Vertigo with changing position
  • Motion sickness
  • Sensitivity to environments
  • Neck pain
  • Headache
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Feeling like you’re falling
  • Confusion

Neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke can lead to vestibular disorders. They can also be caused by traumatic brain injuries and other conditions.

Our specially trained physical therapists will evaluate the source of vertigo, balance disorder or motion sensitivity during a one-hour-long evaluation. They will then provide individualized treatment during follow-up sessions and prescribe appropriate exercises.
