April 16, 2025

New Brunswick, N.J. – April 16, 2025 – Saint Peter’s Healthcare System is proud to announce that it has been recognized by Newsweek with three distinguished awards. Today, Saint Peter’s University Hospital was named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for the fourth year in a row. The ranking awards the leading hospitals for maternity care in the U.S based on:
Saint Peter’s University Hospital was also named to Newsweek’s America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2025 list, highlighting 700 leading hospitals at the state level with the intent to assist patients in finding trusted medical facilities close to home. Proximity and access are of the utmost importance when choosing between top hospitals. The America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2025 ranking was presented in collaboration with Statista and hospitals from all U.S. states were eligible for the ranking and included in the nationwide survey. Four data sources were used from the evaluation: quality metrics data, a nationwide online survey, patient experience, and a voluntary PROMS (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) implementation survey.
In addition, Saint Peter’s CARES Surgicenter has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2025 list. This is the fifth year in a row that the CARES Surgicenter has been named among the best ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) in the nation.
The America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2025 ranking awards the leading ambulatory surgery centers in the U.S. based on quality of care, performance data, and peer recommendations relative to in-state competition. Included ASCs operate exclusively for the purpose of providing surgical services to patients not requiring hospitalization and in which expected duration of services would not exceed 24 hours following an admission. The 25 states with the most facilities according to the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which includes New Jersey, were surveyed individually. The remaining states were grouped into four regions. ASCs from these states were considered accordingly.
Ambulatory surgery centers continue to play a crucial role in modern health care. In the United States, thousands of these facilities offer colonoscopies, tonsil removals, biopsies, cataract removals, knee repairs, skin grafts and other procedures. These specialized centers are a popular option for patients seeking safe, quality care outside a traditional hospital setting.
“As a healthcare provider, Saint Peter’s recognizes that individuals and families have many choices when deciding where to seek care. Whether it’s welcoming a new life or undergoing surgery for a complex condition, national recognitions from trusted sources like Newsweek empower patients with the information they need to make confident, informed healthcare decisions,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, FACHE, president and CEO of
Saint Peter’s Healthcare System. “I applaud our exceptional team of physicians, nurses, and many other professionals whose exemplary standards and compassionate care have earned us not just one, but three prestigious distinctions: Newsweek’s Best Maternity Hospitals, Best-in-State Hospitals, and Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers.”
