Thoracic Surgery

Saint Peter’s University Hospital offers comprehensive thoracic surgery services.  This includes a multidisciplinary approach for our lung cancer program as well as complex esophageal and airway surgery. Patients diagnosed with a suspicious lung nodule or confirmed lung cancer are referred for a consultation with one of our thoracic surgeons.

Saint Peter’s thoracic surgeons offer treatments for the following conditions:

  3. Esophageal cancer
  4. Diaphragmatic hernia
  5. Mediastinal mass
  6. Paralyzed diaphragm
  7. Airway tumor
Robotic surgical procedures performed at Saint Peter’s include:
  1. Robotic assisted lung resection for lung cancer
  2. Robotic assisted esophageal resection for cancer
  3. Robotic assisted paraoesophageal hernia repair
  4. Robotic assisted diaphragmatic hernia repair
  5. Robotic assisted mediastinal mass resection
  6. Bronchoscopic airway stent placement
  7. Bronchoscopic laser tumor debridement

At Saint Peter’s, we strive to provide quality care while making the patient experience seamless and easy. As part of our Lung Health Program, patients will be assisted by a registered nurse-lung navigator. Our lung navigator can help in scheduling appointments, providing educational material, and connecting patients to community resources, as well as being part of our patient’s support system.
