Eligibility Criteria
Prerequisites
- Must be fluent in the English language.
- Needs to have completed medical education with language of instruction as English or have passed the TOEFL or IELTS.
- Must have passed any Step exams taken on the first attempt.
- Must be a medical graduate and have completed their medical education in the last five years (no earlier than 2020).
- Medical students are not accepted for the program.
- Visiting international candidates must hold a valid visa. Our Institution does not sponsor visas.
- Once your application is accepted and you book a session, you will need to send a non-refundable deposit of U.S. $100 to hold your spot, along with your initial documents. This deposit will be applied to your BIO Program fee when you make your payment for the Program.
- For example, if you were to attend for 2 weeks and your cost is U.S. $1500, you would have already paid U.S. $100, so when the time comes to pay for the observership, you will only need to pay U.S. $1400.
Three weeks prior to your start date, you will need to provide the following items:
- A photo of yourself, a headshot against a plain background in jpg format, to be used for your hospital ID badge
- Proof of health insurance coverage - many candidates get it as part of travel insurance
- Proof of negative TB test:
- If done in another country, only Quantiferon Gold test is acceptable. Must have been done within the past year
- If done in the U.S., TST or Mantoux test is accepted within the past 3 months
- Chest x-ray report required if test result is positive
- TDAP vaccination within the past 10 years
- MMR and Varicella titers - proof of positive titers within the past 5 years required to prove immunity. If titers do not prove immunity, then candidate must get vaccinated
- signed & dated proof of physical exam within the past year, stating that the candidate is in good mental and physical health, is free from contagious diseases and is able o perform his/her professional duties
- Flu vaccination for the current season (only required in September through March)
- The dress code policy for BIO observers requires men to wear a clean, ironed dress shirt and tie, trousers or slacks, polished, clean professional-looking shoes; women should wear a skirt or dress of business length OR tailored dress slacks, a blouse or shirt that looks professional and professional footwear (without sacrificing comfort)
- For both men and women: No scrubs, no sneakers, jeans, t-shirts or sandals. Neat hair and nails.
Application Package Checklist
The following documents and payments will be required to be sent via email once your application is accepted:
- Copy of your medical diploma
- A copy of the biographic page of your passport
- Step Exam Score Report Document(s)
- U.S. $35 payment (via PayPal link to be provided) for background check
- $100 non-refundable deposit (via PayPal link to be provided) which will be applied to your BIO Program fee when you make your course payment
